Are You Buying Real Raw Hair? 5 Red Flags No One Talks About
You didn’t hear it from us... but someone needs to say it: not all "raw" hair is raw. And if you’ve ever paid a premium price for bundles that turned out to be just meh? You’re not alone, queen.
Welcome to the Crown & Silk club where we pull back the lace and give you the truth.
Here are 5 red flags your "raw" hair might be fake:
1. It’s too perfect. If your bundles are all the same color, wave, and sheen? Babe, that’s not raw. Real raw hair varies slightly from donor to donor, just like natural hair. That uniform look usually means it’s been processed.
2. It smells... off. Authentic raw hair smells clean, not chemically coated. If you catch a whiff of strong factory scent or product buildup, it may have gone through more than just a shampoo...
3. The ends are too thin (or too thick). Raw hair has natural variation. If the ends are unnaturally full or the bundle feels uneven, it might be mixed with synthetic filler or silicone-coated strands.
4. The price seems suspiciously low. We all love a deal. But real raw hair is sourced ethically, collected carefully, and processed minimally, and that costs. If it’s dirt cheap, ask more questions.
5. The seller can’t answer basic sourcing questions. "Where is it from? Is it single donor? Can it be dyed?" If the seller is vague or defensive, back away. A real luxury brand knows every detail.
At Crown & Silk, we don’t play those games. We source directly from India, Vietnam, and Cambodia through trusted partners, and we inspect every bundle before it ships. Our raw hair is unprocessed, full from root to tip, and so real it could pass as your own.
So before you click ‘add to cart’ with someone else, ask yourself: are you buying real raw hair, or just real good marketing?
